IN HIS IMAGE

In His Image is a hand and skin tone study that explores color, anatomy, and the process of painting the human form. The piece began with a magenta acrylic underpainting, followed by layers of oil paint built gradually on top to create a smoother, more luminous surface. This layered approach allowed for careful exploration of skin tones while maintaining depth and warmth.

The hand references Adam’s outstretched hand in Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, drawing on themes of imago Dei—the belief that humans are created in the image of God. Through this work, creativity itself becomes an act of reflection, expressing the idea that my ability to create is part of that divine image.
