THE GARAGE

The Garage is a hard-edge painting that explores paint as a material through the use of tape and large color planes on a smooth canvas, intentionally eliminating visible brushstrokes. By removing the hand of the artist, the surface becomes quiet and controlled, allowing color and form to carry the meaning. The relationship between orange and blue is central to the piece, using contrast and balance to create a sense of warmth in the middle of winter.

The painting is meant to capture a small, fleeting moment—the trickle of light that moves across your body as the sun comes up. It reflects that brief pause before the day fully begins, when everything feels still and full of possibility. In this way, the work points toward renewal and the beginning of something new.
