For this project, we had 4 weeks to create our own design philosophy and build an educational experience or toy inspired by it. Our goal was to create something that gives children space away from electronics. Something that encourages problem solving and sparks creativity and something that helps children develop skills and imagination.
We noticed that within modern clothing for children there were many problems. Low quality materials, fast-fashion production, discomfort and poor fit, little personalization, limited longevity, and few opportunities for creative expression. We wanted to respond to this with something that truly returns children to imagination.
research
As we researched design philosophies and history, A designer that brought our ideas into focus was William Morris. His voice echoed exactly what we were discovering.
William Morris believed in returning to nature as a source of truth and creativity, the value of imagination and craftsmanship, and design that connects people. These ideas led us to what inspired our own philosophy, the idea that children need spaces where imagination is nurtured, not replaced.
COLORS
The brand’s color palette is inspired by William Morris’ prints, using hues that capture the playful energy of childhood while maintaining a timeless, handcrafted feel.
Each color was chosen with creativity in mind—blue for confidence and imagination, cream for softness and approachability, green for growth and a connection to nature, red for excitement, and yellow for a sense of wonder.
LOGO & MARKS
The bobbin represents craftsmanship, quality, and the often unseen work that holds everything together—much like creativity itself.
The wings symbolize imagination without limits, ideas taking flight, and the magic of turning something intangible into something real.
The oblique text introduces a sense of movement, reinforcing forward motion, momentum, and the evolving nature of the creative process.
ILLUSTRATIONS & ICONS
The illustrations and icons were designed to feel hand-drawn, inspired by the charm of children’s coloring books. Soft lines and playful characters create an inviting space where kids feel free to draw, imagine, and create without rules.
Each icon and character is meant to be fun, familiar, and easily relatable, encouraging children to see their own ideas reflected in the experience.
Final product
Bobbin & Co. turns a child’s imagination into something they can wear. Each child receives an interactive booklet—part story and part sketchbook, where they design clothing, invent patterns, and choose colors. Once complete, parents upload the artwork, and the child’s designs are transformed into custom clothing made just for them.
The experience feels magical and screen-free for kids. Children create with their hands and imagination, while parents handle the digital steps behind the scenes. The result is clothing that feels familiar, comfortable, and personal—helping reduce daily struggles over what to wear while encouraging children to develop their own sense of style.
Bobbin & Co. creates functional, wearable pieces that adapt to everyday life, allowing a child’s creativity to truly come to life.
